{nest}

{nest} is a collaborative, interactive piece for the 2011 SIGGRAPH Conference in Vancouver, Canada.  The theme “home” is explored by creating a nest around a person on a bed.  Once a person is stationary, a nest of light will begin to form around them, they can move within the nest, but movement outside the nest’s borders will cause the nest to deconstruct until the person is stationary again.

The system uses touch sensors embedded in the mattress to detect the placement of a person or persons in the bed.  Java and Processing code construct and deconstruct the nest which is projected onto the bed from above.
